Consolidation is reshaping independent wealth management from both directions. Advisors continue to seek greater independence while many of the firms serving them are getting larger, taking outside capital or becoming part of larger enterprises. Mike Papedis speaks with Independent Financial Group's Scott Heising about what independence means in that environment, how firms can achieve scale without sacrificing advisor autonomy, and the choices leaders face as they balance growth, resources and control.
Mike's Take
"Scale and independence do not have to be opposing forces. The real question is what an advisor still controls as the organization around them gets larger. Capital, technology and infrastructure can create enormous leverage, but only if growth preserves meaningful choice, ownership and autonomy for the advisor."
